“Melissa is a proven industry leader with the requisite business acumen and experience to accelerate CareLinx's already ambitious growth and expansion”
Miao has broad experience addressing the marketing and business development needs of fast-growth startups and Fortune 100 companies. Earlier, she co-founded a healthcare informatics company that McKesson, the country's largest pharmaceutical distributor, acquired. Miao remained at McKesson in business development and strategy roles. “Melissa is a proven industry leader with the requisite business acumen and experience to accelerate CareLinx's already ambitious growth and expansion," said Sherwin Sheik, CareLinx’s founder and CEO. "She is a valuable addition to our management team, having broad healthcare experience both as a successful entrepreneur and as an executive at a Fortune 100 company. Equally important, Melissa has experienced first-hand the challenges and stresses of caregiving, having taken time away from her career to assist with the care of her father, who was sadly diagnosed with an advanced degenerative disease.” Sheik, a former Wall Street healthcare analyst, founded CareLinx after his own family struggled to find quality caregivers for his sister with multiple sclerosis and for his uncle with ALS. CareLinx has grown into the largest online caregiving network and is fast changing the way families find and hire caregiving resources. “Joining CareLinx provides a compelling opportunity,” Miao said. “Sherwin pioneered the online caregiving space and has built a significant network of registered caregivers. My goal is to accelerate the growth of our reach as we promote greater awareness of our services to families through advocacy and industry partnerships.” Prior to joining CareLinx, Miao led business development initiatives for CellScope, a digital health startup focused on delivering mobile health imaging solutions for families. She earlier held a similar role with the oncology services unit at McKesson, which she joined following its acquisition of the healthcare informatics venture she co-founded. Miao holds BS and MS degrees in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
