Welcome to "Flu Season" - Here are some helpful Flu Time Tips Last year, CareLinx's cartoon friends CareCat and Rusty the Retired Watchdog created a Flu Time Tips poster for posting around offices and public places this time of year. We are making the helpful poster available again this year. Check it out!

At the top of the clock and tip sheet is the message: "Get your flu shot! Don't delay." Have you gotten your shot yet? Please do so right away. It takes about a week for the immunization to be effective, so it is important to follow all the preventative tips and encourage friends and family to do the same. Respiratory illnesses are especially harmful to the very young and very old. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), it has been recognized for many years that people 65 years and older are at greater risk of serious complications from the flu compared with young, healthy adults because human immune defenses become weaker with age. While flu seasons can vary in severity, during most seasons, people 65+ and older bear the greatest burden of severe flu disease. Influenza is often serious for seniors! CareCat, Rusty and the whole CareLinx team wish you health and wellness this flu season.

Many of our readers have asked for the Flu Time Tips poster, so we invite you to download and print or share online. Where else can you post this poster? We suggest sharing it with local clinics, public libraries, schools, recreation centers, and even your local coffee shop. We also recommend that you use this colorful-but-information-packed poster as a discussion aid and a tool for motivating your friends and family -- especially your seniors -- to get a flu shot early in the season. The sooner, the better! FLU TIME poster (PDF)
