Hello my name is Marisol Solis and I have been an experienced caregiver since a year after high school. I enjoyed it very much and I decided to get my degree in child development but with an emphasis on Gerontology because the university I am planning to go to doesn't have a program set up as of yet. I am very patient down to earth, friendly, trustworthy and loyal. Knowing that I have helped a senior with cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, driving them to their doctor's appointments, is very rewarding to me. What I enjoy about being a caregiver is the history behind these individuals, the stories, it is very interesting to me. My highest achievement that I am proud of is gaining the client's trust and knowing they can count on me for assistance.

I am a caring and compassionate person. I love helping others who aren't able to help themselves. I am able to get things done in a timely matter. I have had patients who hadn't left the house for months at a time. For example, I was sent to a lady and spent a while talking to her and learning about her, after a little while she asked if we could go out side for a short walk. After coming back in side she had the biggest smile. We were able to go from an experience where she was inside all day to where she was able to enjoy her surroundings. I felt as though i am able to connect with people on a personal level to where I can get to know them as a person and not as another on of my patients. The experiences that I have gone through not only have changed me as a person, but, as a caregiver as well.

I love caring for others, I have been told that I am a very patient and caring. I believe you should treat others with respect and compassion no matter with their physical or mental state may be. I have always been a caregiver starting with babysitting. I'm known in my family as the baby whisper. I enjoy knowing that I was able to help someone that needed help, but helping them in a way that still gives them their independence. I am proud that I can help someone accomplish a small task like brushing their teeth themselves or being able to use a walker instead of a wheelchair to take a few steps. Seeing someone feel they have the confidence to do something that seems so simple makes me feel like I have helped with personal achievements everyday.
