Hello I'm dorcas I'm from Zimbabwe but was raised here in America, I had been a caregiver for about 5 months now and I'm so grateful to have an opportunity to be able to put in as much help I can to help families.

I graduated from Pfeiffer University in May majoring in Exercise Science and minoring in Coaching. I want to go to Graduate school and become a Physician Assistant and to do so, I need 5,000 clinical hours working with different patients. I like being a CNA because it is rewarding.

what makes me a great caregiver is that it comes naturally for me! whether it be children, animals, or seniors, I give it my all at all times because I would want the same in my older years! my greatest accomplishment is having my daughter!! thanks

I had a child that was in the Albuquerque Burn Center for a year; to be able to care for him I earned a nursing certificate. I used this knowledge to care for him, and subsequently, several seniors over the years. I enjoy being able to help seniors stay in their homes until the end of their life. I have taught handicapped children and adults how to swim for over 35 years. I was a foster parent for ten years and adopted my first foster child; my daughter adopted my last foster child. I was, also Chief Judge for elections in Ada County for 22 years.

But i am not new to being a caregiver i spent most of childhood and teenage years assissting my grandmother with taking care of her father who had diabetes and broke his hip twice. He needed constant care and could barely do for himself. After his passing i realised how important it is to help others as they age especially if they dont have family who cant give them care 24/7 . Because after awhile they get lonely and then things may go down hill. I love being a caregiver. Its not just a paycheck for me but more of a need to fulfill my dreams. And make them as comfortable as possible.

i normally take care of children but i also taken care of the elderly, mainly my grandparents so i know how much patience you must have, and a big heart. My mom has her own carehome business for 20+ years. I was exposed to the healthcare field most of my life, and have been passionate about the work my mom does everyday. Caring for our youth and elderly gives me the motivation to get up every morning knowing I am helping someone each day. Also my Grandmother and Mom runs a independent business taking care of people who cant. Just growing up seeing how caring and passionate they were, And that is what leads me to want and continue senior care. Most people think just because i am young that i am selfish like everybody else. I Worked helping my mom and grandmother a;; through high school. I started working Independently a year and a half ago. what i LOVE the most about being a caregiver is the Amazing Freaky Crazy Stories that is shared with me. Most of the time elderly people honestly just want someone to talk to. But most of all the knowledge that is given that no professor or Big book and give you. The personal achievement that i am proud of is learning to NOT be selfish and see that there is bigger and better things that you can do that helps you grow as a person and also helping someone else. I have the personality of a rockstar i am a very cheerful person outgoing and hardworking and the most of all i am caring and trustworthy.

I became a Caregiver because I am currently in school to become a nurse. I thought being a care giver would give me a lot of good experience for the nursing field. I absolutely love being a care giver. It's such a good feeling to get my members up in the morning and see their faces light up when they see me. I love helping them with their daily needs and making sure that they are always very well taken care of. The members at my facility mean so much to me. I am a 21 year old college student seeking part time work.
