Greetings, I've discovered that regardless of someones health condition or disability everyone deserves to have a good quality life and to be happy, thats way I became a "Compassionate Caregiver" it is so important to provide compassionate care to thoughes that need caring for. One of my good friends was in a car accident that left him as a Quadriplegic, now being such a young man, he became very depress with life and I had a problem with that so I decided to learn how to care for him and I did just that. I started by being Trained by the Healthcare facility free of charge were he lived. I started class room and hands on training for eight weeks and I had taken a CPR course. I did this so my friend could have a quality life. I also taken a course on how to transfer Quadriplegic patients so that I could transfer him the correct way from his wheel chair to my car and from the car to his wheelchair and back into the facility were he was living, that alowed us to go places, Dr appointments and places he liked going to. Then he stoprd looking at his self deficiencies but instead, he started loving life once again and loving people and we made the best of things. So he begin enjoying are times together once again just like old times and thats how I became a Home Healthcare Provider.

I am Virginia Board Certified Nursing Assistant with over five years of home health and assisted living care. After raising four children I returned to school and became certified as a Home Health Aid, Nursing Assistant as well as Phlebotomy Tech. I believe that everyone has the right to quality care, and an advocate to ensure they are treated with dignity and respect. I have 20 years of experience in the medical/nursing field. I've worked in nursing homes, hospitals, and agencies and have found that in home care is the field best suited for me. I tend to be drawn toward Alzheimer/dementia patients as I'm learning my approach in care, they tend to respond to me best. I have worked with several families and helped to restore certain independence to patients with walking, dressing, feeding themselves. I ran a restorative therapy program for over two years in a nursing facility before deciding to take a home care position with an agency.

I no longer hold a nursing license. I do hold a CPR card that is current. Understand the need for following instructions. Enjoy working with people in homecare taking care whatever is needed. I have seen people who are untrained and without common sense and this is a waste of everyone's time. I've worked as a nurse assistant over 16 yrs caring for disabled, elderly, ill, and mentally challenged clients. I love being able to provide an atmosphere of hospitality and becoming close with the people I take care of. I started doing this profession when my sister was dying of cancer, I took care of her every day during her final days. What I loved about doing that, is feeling needed. She relied on me for everything, to be her comfort, to wash her hair, to make her laugh and smile. I was a pediatric ophthalmology specialist in Canada; when we were transferred to the USA, I began a food manufacturing company. A friend approached me in 2015 to ask if I would help with their mum who was near vegetative status due to progressing dementia and being alone. Four months later, this beautiful Lady was walking, singing, dancing, and cooking with me - one of the most self-gratifying endeavors of my life. Now living in the beautiful hill country, retirement is not satisfying - I do volunteer at the VA hospital just to see these heroes smile, laugh & have someone to listen to them... and of course plenty of hugs! I would treasure being able to help another person find enjoyment in life.
