I am a recent graduate of the Thomas Jefferson University’s BSN FACT program, an accelerated one-year nursing program in Philadelphia, PA. My previous bachelors degree in psychology and past experience in the hospital and hospice setting all make me a stronger nurse, and contribute to my ability to communicate and work with people from many different backgrounds. In addition to my past experience, Thomas Jefferson University has provided me the opportunity to spend 1152 clinical hours in the hospital settings with magnet status, which is more than any other nursing program on the East Coast. I am currently enrolled part-time in Thomas Jefferson University’s Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner program. I believe in building a trusting relationship with my patients through positive communication and providing commitment and excellence, exceeding my patient’s expectations. I am a Dementia and Alzheimer's specialist. I am experienced in Memory Care. Memory Care clients are my favorite people in all of healthcare! Though my first pick is with the Dementia and Alzheimer's clients, I have had other clients with other conditions, such as, stroke, diabetes and congested heart failure etc.. In 2011 when my ex mother in law became sick I became one of her caregivers. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed caring for her. I do believe this is my calling. I was once offered a position as manager of a home health company. I did not think I could do that job. I was right because I need to be the caregiver not the office person. I love my job. I like everything about caregiving. I love my seniors. I love their stories and their laughter. I'm happy when they are happy. I look forward everyday to seeing my seniors. I love cooking, cleaning and fussing over my seniors, so I'm a natural at caregiving. Remember if you love what you do it's never a job. My fee starts at $25 an hour. My fee increases if the shift is split. Also would like employer to pay a share of taxes. I am currently working for $24 an hour but I am not so sure that after 36.5 months it's working. So money is not the deciding factor for me. If you are looking for an experienced Alzheimer and or Dementia CNA , I could be the one!
