About Maria

My mother was seriously ill and I will take care of her every day and nights for 4 years. I will change her diaper, bathe her, spend the night at the hospital with her, etc. When she passed away, a big part of me was missing so I decided to help others that didn't have anyone to take care of them. I've been with Doña Evita for the past 5 years. It has been a challenge and they say that caregivers wouldn't last more than a month there because of how she is. It was and still is challenging at times, however being there for her is gratifying. She was just at the hospital for 2 weeks and stopped walking when she came home; I have been doing physical therapy with her and exercises and today she started walking again and being able to go to the restroom. This has been such a rewarding experience that I am truly proud of. I started working for this wonderful family since June 2015 as part time. I am a companion to Carmelita, I take her to eat, she loves to go out to the mall and enjoy a day out or even watch tv in her house. I am there also to remind her to take her medicine. I love coming here as I love being able to make her smile and have fun. I am passionate about helping others, this is what I love to do and want to continue doing.

To be my mother's caregiver working side-by-side with the doctors sorting her medication daily. To control her illnesses such as her A1c for diabetes, weight, mental illness, asthma, and COPD. My mother was able to have a longer and healthier life until her passing.
