About Evans

I am a very competent and enthusiastic caregiver with an outgoing personality, great communication skills, and a passion for taking care of others. I love caring for and helping people, and have actively participated in and volunteered with many caregiving programs. I sincerely believe that this job gives me immense fulfillment and satisfaction, as I truly love caring for people. I looked after my grandfather after he had a stroke. The stroke affected my grandfather's leg movement and memory, and it became difficult for him to walk. Caring for my grandfather increased my interest in care and compassion for the elderly. I have a strong background in caregiving, and I feel that the professional experiences I have uniquely qualify me to care for your loved ones. For example, I have volunteered at Mnkhanya Community Based Home and Blessed Hope Care in rural Zambia caring for the elderly people. Through volunteering with organizations such as the Maternal Health Association of Zambia, the Kenya Voluntary Development Association and Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service, and Service Civil International, I have worked on diverse projects focusing on care for the elderly in Europe and Africa. My First Aid and CPR certifications along with more than a year of extensive experience as a caregiver give me confidence in my ability to do this job well. My professional background has provided me with broad experience in this line of work.

I became a caregiver because I needed a job then I can't stop being one because I loved it, I love helping others and making their life easier. Being a caregiver is one of my passion, I love making difference in peoples lives, I go home happy because I did something for the person in need which made them, smile, comfortable, satisfied and at the end of the day send me home blessed. I'm dependable, compassionate, honest and caring person. What makes me think and believe that I'm a great caregiver is that everyone of my patient called me "my angle" and this is because I treat everyone of them as they were my own, I don't leave anything that can be done today for tomorrow because we may not have tomorrow and I don't want to live with guilty consciousness for the rest of my life, therefore I provide all the assistance the patient needs right then when he/she needs it, not tomorrow.

I became a caregiver first and foremost for the flexibility of the the job. When my kids were younger, this career gave me the opportunity to be home with them and work nights. I moved on to becoming an Administrative Assistant for more than 18 years. I was laid off from my job due to the last recession and I jumped back on my skills to continue giving care to the elderly. I enjoy helping the elderly in all walks of life. Some of the qualities I have are: I am compassionate, I get along with people, I am conscientious, reliable, and above all trust worthy. I was a valuable support for my clients, helping then with all the activities of their daily living, I cooked and served meals, I assisted with medications, I shopped for food and personal items, I provided transport/ accompanied clients to doctor's appointments. I was with one of my clients last year and realized that she needed to go to the hospital. I called the emergency service and stayed with her at the hospital till the family made alternative arrangement. When she was later discharged, I stayed and cared for her till she passed. I have now become a trusted friend of the family.
