Growing up I always wanted to become a nurse or a special education teacher. I was surprised in 2015 when I gave birth to a daughter with significant special needs. God gave me a heart for caregiving, even from a young age. Our family has opened up to fostering medically fragile children, and to continue to financially meet that goal I am trying to get a caregiving job outside of our home. I love learning about medical equipment and expanding my knowledge on diagnosises that I may be unfamiliar with. But my favorite part of caregiving is making a meaningful connection with my clients. Every person is capable of making a connection, sometimes it's in grunts or hand squeezes. In my daughter's case it is clapping to a rhythm, whatever your loved ones way of communicating and connecting is I want to be able to met that need.
