Making a difference in people's lives has been a passion of mine. My family owned a Nursing Home/Home for the Aged for 36 years. This is were my passion for taken care of people was instilled in me. I worked as a caregiver, cook and handled recreation programs for our residents. Throughout the years I worked for Connecticut Hospice, The Alzheimer's Resource Center, and as a Private Caregiver for children and adults. I had the honor of caring for my Dad and both my Grandmother who all had Alzheimer's. There are many types of Dementia. Training and knowledge is important to understanding the needs of your love ones and clients you care for. This past December I completed training courses for The National Caregiver Certification Program, Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia and 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's. These certification courses provided me with new ways to communicate with Dementia clients. I make sure the things that are most important to my client are done every shift. This is achieved by asking your priorities, then once they're completed if time allows I do my best to tackle the non-priorities. Compassionate, reliable, punctual, treating everyone with dignity and respect are values I live by.

I'm a very empathic and understanding person being able to help others is something I love to do. I enjoy meeting new people , I'm passionate in what I do in achieving my work as a caregiver helping on a day to day basis.

I am a very reliable and friendly caregiver, I love to care for people young,old,disability, handicapped. It's doesn't become just a Job for me, but to see a smile on person face says it all for me. I enjoy caring for the elderly or people's needs because one day I might be in their shoe so I treat everyone how I would want to be treated, which is with respect, being honest, caring , trusting me to care for them. From my experience I've heard a lot of people tell me that I'm very patient and loving. What makes me a great caregiver is my inability to give up. I will push until my patient receives the proper treatment and is fully satisfied. I love working as a caregiver making sure my client has comfort when no one else is around and they always have a smile until their no longer requesting my service. I got into this field with my own experience dealing with my grandmother who died from Alzheimer's it was really hard not being able to speak up for her and make her feel more comfortable so I vowed to speak up for those in need and make sure to never fail them.

What makes me a great caregiver is my innate emphasis on the virtue and value of empathy. I may be physically strong, however my emotional strength is probably even more immense. I am a resilient, courageous, sensitive, compassionate and kind, which attracts me to the work of being a caregiver. What I enjoy most about this work is that it is heart-based and that I get to actually connect with human beings on a true level, additionally those who have already had plenty of life experience. A personal achievement I am proud of is having become a licensed EMT, whether or not I've pursued it as a career. And also that I am knowledgeable and familiar with complex mental health situations. I have a desire to serve, however I believe that my service should come with a true purpose rather than personal gain, so I look forward to helping out those who can use truly use my assistance. My a caregiver sense 1991 in Florida , now I'm in ct I have to retake the class ! Because I don't have any chance to take care my grandma she was in Haiti but I was in USA, I decided to give tender loving care to elderly , I love want I'm doing , for experience in geniatric care.
