About Danna

I became a Caregiver because my mother was a Caregiver for the elderly when I was growing up. I would sometimes go with her to the homes of the people she cared for and saw what a difference she made in their lives. Her clients were so appreciative of even the smallest things she did for them. Being a Caregiver affords me the opportunity to also make a difference in people's lives. I cared for my last two clients, one for 2 months and one for 9 years and both had become like family to me. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with both of them. I am proud of the fact that I have provided excellent care to both Yong and Rosie and at the same time raised two children. I have been very involved in their schools through PTA from elementary to high school. I have served on the executive board of PTA as Membership Coordinator, Treasurer, Secretary and President for 12 years while also working 40 hours or more a week. I enjoy reading, painting and vacationing at the beach.

    Caregiver

    Jun 2015 - Aug 2015
    Susan Town (Yong Martin's daughter)
    • Mimi had heart surgery in February 2015 and came to live in her daughter’s home in May 2015. I stayed with her during the day while her daughter was at work. I assisted Mimi with daily hygiene, brushing teeth, washing face, dressing. Prepared breakfast and lunch, and gave morning medication. Mimi had a feeding tube and some meals were given as a bolus feeding. Also administered Tylenol through feeding tube when needed and flushed feeding tube 2-3 times per day to prevent clogging. Helped her with physical and occupational therapy on the days that therapists were not there and drove her to doctor appointments. In early July, Mimi developed pneumonia and was hospitalized for 3 weeks. I stayed with her during that time and also after she was transferred to a long term acute care center. She contracted MRSA (staph infection) in her lungs which she succumbed to on August 8th.

Recently, client has experienced declining health and has required full care, even with simple tasks, including being fed and assisted with personal hygiene.

    Personal Care Attendant

    Sep 2013 - Oct 2014
    Mr. & Mrs. Charles Quick
Mr. Quick was recovering from prostate cancer surgery in his home. His wife suffered from slight dementia, neuropathy, fibromyalgia, and several other ailments. She was semi-wheelchair bound. Helped with weekend housekeeping, medical preparation, caring for pets, grocery shopping, medication pickup and other errands. In addition, I assisted both with some personal care. Both of them had swelling in their feet and legs, and needed massaging in their lower extremities to relieve pain and swelling. I stayed with Mrs. Quick overnight for several weeks also when Mr. Quick was in the hospital with a reoccurrence of his cancer.

    Personal Care Attendant

    Aug 2004 - Mar 2005
    Mrs. Billie Reed
Helped with bathing, washing hair, shaving legs and underarms, brushing teeth, dressing and preparing lunches. Also drove her to exercise class twice a week, accompanied her to doctors’ appointments and ran errands to the grocery store. Administered breathing treatments with a nebulizer and gave her medications. Mrs. Reed had Parkinson’s disease, so I helped her in and out of bed or her chair, and to walk beside her when she was using her walker.

    Personal Care Attendant

    Feb 2004 - Jul 2004
    Mrs. Paul Perrone
Mrs. Perrone had Alzheimer’s disease and I stayed with her overnight so Mr. Perrone could sleep. He had advanced lung cancer, congestive heart failure and was on oxygen. Give anxiety medication when needed, make sure she had water at her bedside, help her to the restroom or change her if she had an accident. After her knee surgery she was either in bed or in her wheelchair. Helped transfer her back and forth with the help of another caregiver and a Hoyer lift. Made coffee and prepared breakfast.
