I became a caregiver because I have a desire in me to help & care for people. I love to talk and help my patients anyway I can, without taking away any of their personal dignity. I have several things in my life I'm proud of, but I'm mostly proud of being able to take care of my mom the last few years of her life in my home. It was what I desired to do, and what she wanted. I'm retired, 54 years old, but I want to work part time as a caregiver and continue to help people, it gives me a content, satisfied feeling knowing I'm doing them good. I thank God, for putting this in my heart.

I became a caregiver after the loss of my disabled daughter Caroline. Being a caregiver has improved my life so much. I have always had respect with my elders. I don't think you can learn respect from a classroom. I was raised in a household where I saw my parents show great respect to their elders. I am a very good caregiver because I really care for people.
What makes me a good CNA is empathy and compassion, patience, reliable and most of all trustworthy. I've been a CNA almost 10 years and I still love what I do. I love providing care to those that would otherwise not be able to do so. The smile on their faces is overwhelming and makes me feel I have done my job right. I have always enjoyed helping people, so I know I am doing the right thing. Being a CNA for as long as I have has taught me so many different things, I've worked in nursing homes and some private duty. I love what I do in helping others that I've ever worked with. Taking care of sick people that needs my help gives me joy in my heart and it lets me know they need people to work with them that care. My greatest accomplishment has been to care for people who no longer were able to care for themselves.
