I consider myself blessed to have a connection with the elderly. When I was a 14 yrs old had the most amazing bond with the 93 year old mother of our church and I will never forget her. I personally feel responsible for the helpless ; I didn't know I needed a reason why. However, I have realized it's not for everyone. I take pride in the connection and the ability to bond with a person in need of understanding and compassion. I now consider it a gift and I am humbly grateful.

People need a doctor to diagnose and treat their diseases and ailments, they need a nurse to administer medication and treatment when they are sick. However, at all times they need a caregiver to listen to them, attend to their everyday needs and treat them with compassion. That is where I come in. What I like about being a caregiver is that it affords me the opportunity to use what I have, the skill, knowledge, experience coupled with love, honesty and integrity to help people in need. One personal achievement I am proud of is the completion of the NRCPT Phlebotomy Technician's certificate and yet, rather than sit down to do venipuncture, I chose to do what I like most--care for people. I have worked in various aspects of the healthcare system. Overseas, I worked as pharmacy technician, medical assistant and nursing assistant for eight years. Here in the United States I have taken care of different kinds of patients especially the geriatric population and those with Alzheimer's disease as a professional certified by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
