About Susan

I've always been a caregiver in various ways, starting with my grandfather after my grandmother died. I live with my daughter and granddaughter in a beautiful home in northwest Phoenix near Glendale. During my career in healthcare I worked with Cardiac, CHF and COPD patients, not on a clinical level but I certainly know a lot about their needs having worked with them for 13 years. In 2014 I cared for 2 clients, one dying from age related causes and another from Conjestve Heart Failure. In the latter case, I worked with Hospice. In 2015 I began working with Senior Helpers. For the last year I worked through Senior Helpers I was part of a team of caregivers providing 24 hour care 7 days a week for an aging and declining client. I worked with Hospice until this client passed. Then I worked with two terminally ill cancer patients, again working with Hospice until they passed. In February 2017 I began working through Carelinx caring for an older woman with Alzheimer's. I am still currently caring for this wonderful lady 1 evening a week. I am also willing to act as a substitute caregiver when a regular is sick or on vacation. Call me whenever you need help and I'll try to be there for you!

Cardiac Rehab Administrative Assistant

Sharp Memorial Hospital
My job was mainly a desk job but in my 13 years I worked with both Cardiac and COPD patients daily. I exercised with them regularly in my off hours. I was responsible for admitting them to our program, creating their files, updating their files and for billing. I also coordinated our monthly COPD meetings insuring we had a speaker each month and volunteering my services to create Holiday parties with take home goodies and gifts each for members of each group. I cared very much about each of our many patients and they cared about me. During my time at Sharp I always had my CPR card up to date. In the past two years I have cared for two friends who were ill and dying from home care to hospice until their passing.

Four years ago I retired from nursing. Recently, I moved to Phoenix Arizona to be near family. I have one married daughter in Phoenix where I presently reside, and another married daughter in Peoria. My daughter and son-in-law in Peoria have one daughter and are currently expecting their second child. Prior to moving here, my most recent pertinent work experience was as a homecare non-medical provider to an senior woman in her Kansas home. Though hired as "non-medical care provider" much of my assistance with this woman did revolve around her medical needs as she was an end-stage cancer patient, as well as diabetic. I helped manage her medication schedule, transportation and ensuring she went to medical/doctor appointments. I also monitored her daily health needs such as blood pressure, blood sugars, etc. I would like to care for you or a loved one in your home, and assist you with some of your care needs. I am willing to assist with light housekeeping, meal preparations, exercise/physical therapy programs, transportation and occasional errands or grocery shopping. I enjoy reading, baking, music, walking and spending time outdoors, as well as spending time with my family. I would be delighted to come work for you! --Freida McMahon
