What helps me be a great caregiver is being who I am. I was born with great compassion for overs and their well-being. As a young child I've always helped my older peers with their disadvantages in life or their disability. Caring comes naturally to me being a mother and grandmother. Giving endless love and company. What attracts me to being a caregiver would be me knowing I'm able to help someone and I'm able to make their life easier and possibly to change their life for the better. I enjoy being in the company of someone that feels alone and useless. Letting them know I care for them and I'm there to listen an talk about their needs and wants. I've worked with people's who have dementia, bed ridden, legally blind, cancer, and alzheimers, dialysis, Diabetic, kidney disease, and heart problems. What makes me a great caregiver cuz I'm a people person and I have compassion and I care about how the how they feel. Well I love most about being a caregiver is that I can help and show that I care and that I'm a living person and I give joy and laughter and comfort out of helping others. My mom was a CNA for 40 years before she passed away and I've been volunteering since I was 12 years old so that's what motivates me to be a caregiver. I cared for them both at home until they moved to assisted living and eventually skilled nursing. I know how to navigate and fight for the proper care of your loved ones within the healthcare system.
