I am the adult child of two alcoholics and so is my wife of 39 years. It took us well into our 30's to find each other and marry and almost 40 years of marriage to put most codependent behavior behind us. I can and have endured just about any kind of abusive behavior directed at me and still smile. I am very eager to please others and share their progress. I enjoy caring for others having raised 2 grown children. I experienced 13 months in the hospital over 10 years ago. When I was finally discharged, I was completely debilitated and had to fight to walk again. I can show immense empathetic behavior for others in similar circumstances. I helped start a Stephen Minustry at our church and find great pleasure in actively listening to the problems of others . I have found that listening to someone who feels cut off and alone is as important as medical care in some cases.
