I did not choose to become a caregiver it chose me, back in 2005 my husband was in a accident and became a quad needing full care, I became his caregiver, he passed in 2009. I then realized this was my calling as I was born with a servants heart. I was very good at what I did because my heart was in my work. I went on to become a resident manager for several years in DD and Senior Care homes, moved on to do one in one care, furthering my education yearly according to my clients needs, obtaining EQC certification as well as resident managers licensing . I've been doing this for 29 years and I love it! I specialize In memory care however with that said I can do a lot: Skilled, rehab, quads, tub feedings ,ranger of motion , I can use both the hover and seat to stand lifts. In the beginning I wanted to go to the navy and then become a Marine biologist but I am flat footed and that stopped that and everyone in my family on my mom side is in nursing. Different levels and titles. So I gave it a shot and found I love it. They call me a lifer cuz I've been doing it for 29 years, but I enjoy it, I feel like I'm hangin with friends.
