I like older adults and feel I can get along well with a variety of elders. It is essential that a great caregiver (Myself) feel the desire to want to help. By showing both empathy and compassion, a caregiver will let the person know that they care about them. One of my most precious moments, was being with a sweet lady who was at the end of life. As the CD's played soft music of old hymns and after praying and reading scripture to her for several days; I experienced her smile and hand on my cheek, just before the angels escorted her from this world into Glory.

I think I'm a great caregiver because I genuinely care about others. I treat people the way I want myself or my family members treated. I have enjoyed a 32 year career as a Respiratory Therapist primarily with children in a hospital setting, but being a caregiver doesn't have age restrictions! I am now an active empty nester and am looking to continue caring for others outside of the hospital setting in a little more flexible way. :)

In Mary Elizabeth but I go by Liz. I've been a caregiver for 31years, and I have worked in many places. With my experience in health care I've grown to be very patient and understanding with clients and ive learned that with anger and frustration it can only make the situation worse. I love to talk and learn new things and being a caregiver I feel like you get to experience alot of that. The connection and bond you build with your client is an amazing feeling and them gaining the trust of a stranger like yourself is heartwarming to me. I love to help people and when it comes to caregivers I feel like some people don't have there heart in it, being a caregiver to me isn't just a check or someone I clean and cook for its a relationship. My mother and I wasn't ever really close until about two years ago when she was diagnosed with cancer, and those two years we came together and I'm so grateful for the time we had together while we could. She unfortunately passed away april of this year and it's been hard for me but coming back into the home health service I think will be a way of me carrying on for her to help others like she helped me.
