I became a caregiver due to the fact my grandparents who both raised me both passed away in nursing homes. After I saw the care and how they were being treated, I made the decision to become a nurse assistant so I could possibly make a difference. I feel as though I have, I love what I do and couldn't see myself doing anything else. I'm a very compassionate person with a big heart and I truly enjoy helping others. I'm a good talker but a better listener and will do anything to make sure my patient is comfortable and taken care of emotional, physically, and personally. This is my calling and I have enjoyed these last 11 years doing this.

My name is April. I've been a caregiver for a little over twenty years. Taking care of others is a real passion for me. I treat my patients how I want to be treated when it's my time. When I'm with my patient they receive my full attention if that means sitting and just listening to their stories or holding their hand and calming their fears. I bring all my experience and compassion in with everyone I care for.

I became a caregiver for my grandfather in 2013. In the beginning the need for my assistance was little. I did some light cooking, cleaning, running of errands and other small tasks he requested. Over the next couple years I took on more and more responsibility and in 2015 he had an accident that left him unable to remain out of bed for longer than a few minutes at a time. From this point I happily took on the responsibility of being his full-time and full-service caregiver. I took care of virtually every aspect of his daily life and began additionally helping him with transportation to and from doctors appointments and physical rehab/therapy, as well as mobility and grooming, yardwork and maintenance, vehicle repairs, and a number of other things that he had a tough time with after the accident. I found this experience to be extremely rewarding, allowing me to use my knowledge and understanding of his health complications to help him live an easier life when things got too difficult to do on his own. This in turn allowed me to develop a deep-rooted and long-lasting relationship with the man I admired for such a long time. Through the course of my 8 years as my grandfather's caregiver, I was able to develop and refine personal and professional skills that made daily tasks and activities easier and more efficient for both of us. Patience and understanding, sense of urgency, responsibility, reliability, respect and effective communication skills were some of these. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to take care of my grandfather and would enjoy the opportunity to provide the same level of assistance to other families in need.

I've been a CNA for five years. I've cared for elderly clients as well as sick and immobile ones. I have been in the medical field as a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist for twenty-five years. I went for my CNA license to better understand how to care for elderly and home-bound people as well as to correctly care for my brother who passed from cancer. I am grateful to be able to care for my patients as I care for my family. I've been a Medical asst. and Phlebotomist for over 25 years. *National CPR Foundation

I have 4 years of previous practical nursing training from West Technical Educational Center located in South Florida , where I was born and raised. I've have 2 years of caregiver experience. I am currently a Certified Medical Assistsnt as well as a Certified Medication Technician. I have always been passionate about helping others in every way that I can possibly can help. I pride myself in displaying Integrity, respect, care and empathy for others....Treat the client as if I were taking care of my parent or grand parent. I am young , energetic and full of compassion! I am a retired nurse with experience in geriatrics, pediatrics, mental health, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and dementia. I am certified in many areas of nursing and fluent with many medical equipments including oxygen. I am very out going and love to laugh, cook, do laundry(yes, really!), And I take pride in my work.
