I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and two minors in human development and sociology. Since then I have been working for a residential care agency with adult family homes and single individual apartments. I began as a caregiver and moved up to a site supervisor and eventually an area supervisor. As an area supervisor I manage eight special needs clients and 25 staffing caregivers. I am looking to change my job and do private caregiving as it will be closer to my home. I absolutely love being a caregiver and I cannot imagine myself doing anything else. During high school I was in a volunteer program for elderly companionship and truely enjoyed spending time with the people I've met. I love listening to stories, reading books, playing favorite games, and bringing laughs to their bedside tables. If I help a laugh or smile I feel like I'm doing my job right. I know pretty much all the tricks of the trade when it comes to just about anything that comes up in a situation for a person once I've gotten to know them and their daily routine. Hi, my name is Karen and I'm 52 going on 30. I am young at heart and love to make life fun. I am married with 4 grown children. I am an artist of all kinds, including hair nails, makeup, murals, rock painting, sewing,gardens, tattoos and more. I grew up with a family full of nurse's and firefighters. I always loved the medical field and finding out what makes our bodies tick. So right after my second child, I decided I wanted to work on an ambulance and I loved that job for many years. That was in San Diego. I did end up going part time after around 10 years or so, to take care of people at home. It started with my father in law having a stroke. I have taken care of many types of people,ages and personalities. A year ago, we moved from Everett and bought a house in Granite Falls. We go camping every chance we can, when Boeing allows my hubby to have time off. We have a German Shepherd named Nala that is 2 and have lots of fun with her. I have been background checked and finger printed for my ambulance work and work with the school district. I don't drink or smoke and have always had a clear driving record. We own 4 vehicles,so making it to work is never a problem. I have a big heart and love to make people happy. I like cooking , baking gardening, anything artsy, video games, writing, reading books, camping and movies. I am reliable, early and get along with everyone.
