As a caregiver, I am empathetic, compassionate, patient and have a great sense of humour! I have always been interested in the medical field, and started in 1984 working as an EMT for an ambulance service and ER. That led to my work as a night shift carer and a nursing assistant at two retirement homes. Caring for my late mother (dementia) and my late partner (paralysed from the waist down) brought my work to heart. I believe it is important for the family to be able to spend quality time with their loved one and not have to worry that they are being cared for.
