What makes me a great caregiver is my caring nature. I care about people and I value peoples lives. I especially have the patience for the sick and elderly. I was attracted to being a caregiver because my mom was a caregiver and she took me to care for the elderly throughout my childhood and youth. Through those experiences, I gained a sense of purpose and appreciation for the gift of caring for others. I enjoyed listening to the life stories and experiences of others the more I spent time with the elderly and people who were ill. When I turned 18 years old I took a course to become a Certified Nurses Assistant and Home Health Aid. I worked in that field as a student for ten years. I continued working in the field part-time for over two years. The work was always rewarding for me. I learned a great deal of patience and support skills. I stayed attracted to the work because of the flexibility of hours and schedules.
