I became a caregiver when my elderly mother had a stroke. But I soon realized that it was something that was a natural thing for me. I have always been a caregiver to someone in my life; family, friends, co-workers. I like being a care giver because I am making a difference in someone's life. I get to use my natural ability to be nurturing and loving giving them the best care that they deserve. I have a passion for the elderly and terminally ill patients because I know I can make a difference in their life. Last year I cared for my boss who was terminally ill with cancer. When I started working there that wasn't my position. I became aware of the treatment he was given by the previous caregiver and it alarmed me of how rough he was treated. I informed his brother that I could care for him. I gave him the love and care he needed in his last days. I cooked for him all the things he like to eat in order to keep him stronger. I bathed him, gave him his medication, checked his blood sugar, cared for his open wounds, exercised his legs, gave him massages. After we got to know each other and he was comfortable with my care, he didn't want any other caregiver to feed him it was only me. I worked 12 hour days 7 days a week to keep him happy.
