In essence, helping others has always been a characteristic that illustrated who I am since childhood. After several life-altering events in 2008, I was able to identify nursing as my calling. During the stated period, my oldest daughter was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia. Additionally, one of my other daughters was proclaimed to have type one diabetes. My life forever changed. At that time, I was contemplating entering the medical field as a nurse but could not decide on a specific career path. However after seeking a comprehensive understanding regarding my children's medical conditions, I acquired a newfound appreciation for every aspect of medicine and how it was administered. The entire medical team including nurses, doctors, and social workers were very compassionate, supportive and friendly. They took the time to listen, educate and answer all my questions without hesitation. From that moment, I wanted to give back to others what the medical professionals had provided my children and me which was hope. My children's illnesses compelled me to carry on despite the arduous period I faced. I knew that if I wanted to be a dexterous nurse, I had to be able to manage my time, be strong, and most important advocate for people.
