I love animals and children too. I enjoy helping patients return to a healthy status and maintain their smile/dignity. Sometimes, just holding their hand while they walk and talk to their neighbors will brighten their day. Having the reassurance that there is someone there to help them, should they need it, gives them that extra comfort. I frown on caregivers that place their patients in front of the tv and they spend all their time texting on their phone to their friends, ignoring the needs of their patient.
