I am genuinely interested in giving support and assistance to others. My father was paralyzed and in the hospital for a long time. I learned the patience of waiting while mom visited him. After dad died in the hospital my mother took my brother and I to visit weekly at the nursing homes in our community. At the beginning we were visiting people who were mom's friends or friends of the family and later we visited people who became friends with us. I will always remember how their faces lighted up when we visited. I know the feeling of one kind act as I myself am a cancer survivor and my caregivers and visitors are very dear to me and significant in my recovery.
