I have been a caregiver for almost 6 years and in that period of time I have learned to love, respect and understand the challenges of aging. Their special needs that requires care with so much understanding is my outmost concern. I want to help and guide them to have quality and meaningful life as much as possible.
I am currently working on my RN. I always had a soft spot for the elderly. It has been said that there's something about me having a soothing way of making people comfortable. I have been a caregiver since 2002 as a job but I started taking care of family members when I was in high school; my great grandmother until she was 105 and my aunt who had cancer. I have experience with stroke patients, post surgery, Dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Cerebral palsy, and other diseases and hospice care. I give support in activities of daily living providing the best care I could give to a loved one. I can drive for activities, medical appointments and errands. I enjoy taking walk with them and can whip up a healthy gourmet meal! Yes an added bonus is that I am a very good cook. :)
I have lot's of experience. I am very professional. I am caring and compassionate. Patient and kind. Looking for a live in or 8 hours plus shift(s). Currently working for a Stanford professors wife w/ Parkinson's disease and severe arthritis in both knees. Medication, transfers, toilet/disposable briefs, cooking, feeding, light house work, showers. My last caregiving duties before the professors wife, was in Southern California. 2 years with this client before her daughter quit everything to take care of her. She had the later stages of dementia.
I feel that getting my B.A in English in 2001 at age 49, is a personal achievement I am most proud of. . I was anArmy medic (Reserves). I was a Respiratory Therapist for 19 years. In 2008 I worked in Activities in a nursing home. I was laid off due to the economy; that is when I became a caregiver. I am a great listener. My life is lacking unless I am helping people. I took the initiative as a caregiver and arranged to take my client for a train ride. I also teach tai chi and water exercise to seniors. I am a free lance photographer. But, it is being a caregiver that is most important to me.

After that i began to work on an ambulance for two years. I loved my job on the ambulance but my heart and mind worried and wanted to know how my patients were after drop off. With my patients best interest at heart i wanted to be able to provide care for those who needed it and walk with them through their journey. Recently returning to home health care I am hoping to find a client to care for and grow with.
