My elderly aunt (my mother's younger sister) gradually became more dependent on my care over the years, beginning at age 79. For more than 10 years, I managed all aspects of her in-home care as well as anything that was needed for the household to function smoothly. Sadly, she passed away at age 93 in 2017 with cancer. After more than 30 years in hi-tech (for NASA, HP, Apple, and others, in the USA and more than 8 different countries) from this deep personal experience, I discovered that Caregiving has become my Calling, Mission, and Purpose.
