Starting at home, I had the opportunity of taking care of my grandmother who was sick while I was in nursing school. That gave me the chance to experience taking care of someone and the passion of caregiving especially the elderlies and people with disabilities. Caregiving comes from your heart, it's either you like it or you don't. If you like it and love helping other people, then it becomes one of our lifetime passion like me. Caregiving does not need a Ph.D. but rather a real true passion for helping others, but of course having an education in Nursing do help. My love and passion for helping others is what got me in the field and attracted me in the field. Growing up and seeing my sickly grandmother made me realize how important it is to help others. In my 38 years in the nursing field as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, I have worked in different areas of the medical field, Orthopedics, Neuro Surgery, Medical/Surgical, Pediatrics, Home Care, Post Partum, Mother Baby Care, Convalescent Hospital, Geriatrics and the most part that I enjoy in all these different fields is the bedside care where I get to help and care patients on one on one basis and see their improvements. My most personal achievement is when I was awarded the Daisy Award at St. Joseph's Hospital and Nurse of the Year by Philippines News in Sacramento as this awards are proofs of what I have done as a nurse and a caregiver.
