What makes me a great caregiver is I love helping others and making them smile. I like hands on work. I'm very responsible, respectful and dependable. I became a caregiver when I first started caring for my grandma who had dementia. the bond you have with your client and the family when you are a great caregiver is a great feeling. I feel that when im older, I would want someone like myself there to help if I need help. Being a caregiver is more then a job, you are responsible for another person's well being.

For 3 months I took care of my husband aunt who had stage 4th cancer. I continued to care for other adults. I enjoy being a companion -- helping people feel valued and need it is very important to me. I being in a marriage for 27 years, have 5 kids, very stable in my relationship with my husband and my kids. Love education , enjoy serving people.

I think what makes me a great caregiver is the feeling that i feel within me that i am helping someone at a time in their lives when they need it,the act of promoting independence and self-esteem gives me pleasure. I also consider it a blessing to care for the elderly.I became a caregiver because i enjoy helping people,especially those who need it the most. I am 61 years old and I have great health and strength. I have been in the healthcare since age 21. However I have not worked consistently in the health care . I owned my own business for a little over six years and I have worked in multiple settings as a private sitter . I am very caring and punctual and enjoy bringing some sunshine into the clients day to day living. I have such a sense of fulfillment and joy knowing that I am on some level helping others to be less lonely while attending to their daily needs and the necessity of feeling cared for and at same time which is of grave importance respecting and responding to their need to be treated with dignity and respect all the while seeing that their needs are meant.

I have been a care giver pretty much since i had kids. My first born was breech with 2 dislocated hips, she was in a harness the first year of her life. She had her first hip surgery at 5 and her second at 16, my middle daughter is a 15 year ALL leukemia cancer survivor, and my youngest daughter had chairi. My mom was DX in 2016 with waldenstroms macroglobulinemia and I was her care giver for 2 years. I work in Internal medicine now and 90% of my patients are elderly and I just adore them. I listen to their stories and I have so much compassion for these fragile human beings. Caring for others the way I hope to be cared for one day is a passion of mine. I do work a full time job Monday- Friday so ideally evenings or weekends would work best for me, but I am looking to find a new job so I'm willing to go full time with a family.
