What helps me to be a great caregiver is that I ask, listen to, and respect my patient's requests and opinions. I was drawn to caregiving because of my close relationship to my chronically ill grandmother and losing my grandfather to cancer at the age of 12. The satisfaction I receive from knowing I provide care and compassion for my clients is what I enjoy most about caregiving. My personal achievement that I am most proud of is raising 3 children to maturation as a single mother. I recently remarried and expanded my family to 6 children.
My daughter became sick 5yrs.ago, she was 30yrs. old with 2 young children. I was the most convenient one to care for her. I was her caregiver 24-7 till she could find more help. It was hard and emotional but she was my child and I would do anything for my children. What I like most about caregiving is the smiles on their faces when they realize that someone cares and can help them have some independence and dignity in their own homes. An achievement I made while caring for my daughter was helping her to hold her head up without a brace for 1 hour a day! As for something about myself I have a lot of respect, a big heart, faith and love helping others
