Because I need a job that makes a difference in peoples lives, one that is full of hope and compassion and caring. Being a caregiver helps me to give love, hope and care for my patient, for a better quality life. Helping the patient and the family, knowing that they can depend on me to help in any way I can to relieve the tension that elder age causes in a family setting. Doing my best for the patient adds less worries and more smiles, that's what I'm proud of. I am a single parent of a 16 year old daughter.I am 37 years old. I was a Candy Striper at Orange Baptist Hos. when I was 16. I was a Girl Sc out from Daisy to Senior Scout...until I graduated high school. (1996-7) Done a lot of community service in the area (senior housing). I was always the one to go the extra mile to help within my means. I earned Girl Scout International in 1988. I'm a world traveler. I love people and animals. I went to Kingwood college, took psychology, cardio screening and finished my Cna class but yet to take the state test. I have senior experience through my own grandparents, and near 2 yrs. as a provider through Prospect Home Care. I'm a good listener and love to hear the stories about their life that they tell and some times I embrace their worries and heart-break and physical pain as well. I treat them as if they are family and I focus my time with them, just on them. We play games, watch movies, tell and listen to life-stories and anything else that makes them happy and feel important. ... more
