I have worked in senior care for over 25 years. I have worked in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and in the clients' home. I have dealt with active seniors needing companion care and I have dealt with families who needed care for love ones with dementia-related conditions, Alzheimer's, Lewy Body, Parkinson's, stroke, autism, and mental health. It has been important to me-- in my practice-- to provide client/family-centered care. The client should always be treated with dignity and compassion. Emphatic care helps clients to feel empowered and part of their care, as well as, give them the assurance that the caregiver is looking out for their best interest.
