About Cristi

I became a caregiver because I truly enjoy caring for others. I started out as a feeder when I was 16 years old, working at a nursing home where my dad worked part time. My mother and father Daniel taught me alot about loving people, respecting and caring for them. My dad would explain things to me like don't feed the patient so fast that they choke and don't walk away from them, claiming he or she did not want to eat because they were eating too slowly. To this day I've seen workers feed patients too much too fast because they don't want to take the time they need. I immediately speak about it if I see that type of behavior anywhere. The elderly are precious and at times vulnerable from perhaps being in a weakened state at times or constantly. Sometimes they can feel alone in their dilemma. I'm a caregiver because I love to make a difference in the lives of people I care for and grow to love. When they can't get out in the sunshine I want to bring the sunshine to them. It's hard for me to speak about something I'm proud of. The only thing I can say is that I keep a thankful heart. I'm a "funloving" and peaceful person. I have a BS degree in Education and Psych from SUNY Old Westbury and attended RN school at Nassau. I pursued paralegal studies at Marist College and enjoy blending nursing and law together in the capacity of doing nurse-paralegal contract work. I'm a CNA, EMT-D and phlebotomist as well. I'm definitely an upbeat person and I love learning.
