About Yolander

My name is Yolanda and I've been a caregiver for over 31 years. I'm a CNA, Developmental Service Worker. I love to take care of people. I work for the state of CT. I also work for Oak Hill. I work with individuals that have intellectual disabilities. I love what I do because helping someone with a disability is so rewarding to the individual and yourself as a caregiver. I have worked in the healthcare field for many years. I also worked with children in pre- school for 8 years ages 2.5- 5 years old. I was lucky to be a single foster care mom for 2 years. I loved that experience. It not only taught me how we fortunate ones shouldn't take things or people for granted but it also taught my children to be thankful for what they have. No matter how big or small. I'm currently employed and working with a young man 18 and has a diagnose of Autism. He's very high function and I work from in his home.( in Home Support). I also work in a group home for the State Of CT with 4 behavioral individuals. I enjoy my job. I do adls, community outings, doctor appointments, cooking, bathing, grooming, cleaning, family visits, medication certified, CPR, first aid with aed, pmt and much TLC.

I am a great caregiver because of my patience and understanding. To me taking care of any senior is like taking care of my family so I accord them the same respect attention and love that I would my family.what I love most about this job is the fact that I can put a smile on the face of the client as well as the family member to feel like I am doing something exceptional for them.My proudest moments is when the family keeps in contact with me even after the client has passed and is truly appreciative of what I did for them
