I became a caregiver because i understood how it felt to have a family member need to be looked after. It all began when i was about the age 13, my grandmother had 2 strokes causing her entire left side of her body to be paralyzed. My little sister and i volunteered to help care for our grandmother being taught from nurses and our mother whom was a CNA. Different routines and safety precausions to care for our grandmother. We took care of her for about a year before her condition worsened she was then placed in a nursing home. We still went in and changed her as well as fed her. Back then i realized how important it was to me to help others. During Highschool I did a 3 month internship for patient transportation in L & M Hospital. After that in 2011 I Trained to become a Connecticut certified nurse's assistant. The past 4 years i have worked in 3 different nursing facilities ; New London Rehab And Care, Kindred Crossings West Campus and, Mystic Manor And Rehabilitation Center all of which had long term - short term residents, also rehab residents. I Have also worked in home care caring for clients in homes with different health issues.
