Why I became a CNA at a young age 17 our mother was sick with breast cancer I'm the youngest of 4 (twin) with 2 older brothers an a twin sister . We kept mom home . As 4 children our dad work to pay the bills . We decided as a family keep mom home & comfortable ,we had hospice nurses coming in but Us girls did the bathing / grooming your everyday living. Our goal was to keep her comfortable as we could. Even showing are house dog just to show her she's home . With hospice you never know when your time is up. I remember the hospice nurse supervisor came out that night an I went over all meds, an what had accrued that day. She said to me. You should be a nurse I didn't think about it at that time . But now I see this is my true calling. The patients & family's impact my life just as much as I do to them .. Not everyone is made for this type of Job. I was once told I'm an angel from above. I think of my mom. I enjoy what I do I feel I'm helping the family member come to terms that he/she is going to a better place with no suffering. An also letting the patient know it's gonna be alright
