My name is Susan Kiarie. I have been a caregiver and a Medication Aide for the past 17 years, both in facilities and in-home private care, especially with different forms of dementia like Alzheimers, Parkinson and lewy body. After the diagnosis of our mother with Alzheimers, I realized how much care she needed and in return I knew this is what I wanted to do. What I enjoy the most about caregiving, is seeing the relief of families when I am there to help, in the comfort of their homes. I am proud to say that in the past 7 years of private caregiving, I have had only referrals, which helps me know that I must be doing something right. Thank you.

Growing up being the oldest of 6 siblings I had to be the caregiver due to my mother working long hours as a nurse. In my adult life I've had many jobs but no fulfillment until I started caring for others. I found my purpose and calling. I truly enjoy/ love being a caregiver it brings so much joy and self gratification. My mother played a big part of why I love being a caregiver. seeing the love, she gave, and the return love played a big roll. It feels good to know that I have gained a client trust as well as the assurance that I will take care of them. To see them smile or just help them through a rough day knowing that they can count on me is a great reward. I've had a client I had just started with ask me, is this just a job or do you care? I care about what I do. This is one of the biggest questions that a client or family member has when looking for a caregiver. Staying positive, going beyond the call of duty, compassionate, caring, outgoing, patience, etc. To have the opportunity to care for your loved one or self would be a privilege and a blessing.

I have an Associate Degree in Nursing from Ivy Technical College of IN. I have worked in an Assisted Living facility in IN as well as a nursing facility. I prefer caring for an individual that would love to live in their own home independently. I have experience with Alzheimer's, mobility impairment and strokes. I am experienced in medicine administration. I have knowledge of diabetes and meal planning.

I became a caregiver because I enjoy helping people. Helping people is so rewarding. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is helping make the person I am helping life be a little bite easier. I am most proud of all the people I have helped.

I am completing my graduate degrees, in social work and theology. I am a veteran who has experience as medic as well as over 10 years of caregiving experience. Although I am meticulous about client safety and well-being, I try to make sure clients are comfortable and enjoying their time with me. My ultimate goal is to be part of a care team that helps keep individuals in the home for as long as possible.

I've worked as a nurse assistant over 16 yrs caring for disabled, elderly, ill, and mentally challenged clients. I have worked in nursing home, hospital, home care, senior facility, respite care, private duty, direct care service, and hospice care, and trained in massage. I like to challenge myself as a caregiver with promoting new work skills. My time is giving care to others, that cannot do for themselves. My achievement is to see my three children succeed in the life that values them. For myself, to be recognized for my work performance, that's giving to each individual that has been cared for, show appreciation. I had several resident tell me that I'm wonderful, and I had a tearful moment. It's a blessing to hear positive thinking from a client.
