Let me start by writing about what I know. No matter how much excellent medical and/or psychological care and loving support a person may receive, the person who is facing challenges inevitably feels fragile and experiences a crisis of confidence. Total care only begins at the bedside. The whole environment becomes part of the treatment plan, with a goal of encouraging the person remain engaged in the day to day decisions and activities that govern his or her life. The next thing I know is that, regardless of how smart I think I am, that person with challenges has his or her own agenda and will put every effort into achieving those goals. This deserves great respect. This requires negotiation. This requires a sense of humor. This requires open minds. This is what I know. And since every situation is different, there is no cookie cutter big enough to consider all the possibilities for care and support. Every case depends on intelligent decisions, patience, and cooperation. All laced with healthy doses of kindness.
Over the years I lost all four of my grandparents to cancer. I became a caregiver because I want to help people that are going through the same obstacles they once were. Helping people is my passion. The best feeling in the world is making a slight difference in one's life, making someone smile is everything. When I take care of my resident's and I recieve a smile it makes me feel like I've done a wonderful job. What attracted me to caregiving is going to the nursing home everyday and seeing my grandfathers nurses and aides come in, they always had a smile on their face and it gave him one too. The things they did for him were amazing and I wanted to do the same for someone else's grandparents.

Hi! My name is Kathy Masino. I am a retired Registered Nurse who decided to stay at home and raise my 3 beautiful children who are now grown and doing their own thing out in the world. I could not be prouder of them or more thankful for the opportunity I had to stay home and raise them. I truly miss the nursing aspect that brought much joy and fulfillment to my life. I would love the opportunity to work again with the elderly in the capacity of a companion with the added benefit of having a nursing background. Hi! My name is Brianna and I am twenty one years old, ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to help people in the nursing profession, by age 10 I knew specifically I wanted to work with the aging population. I am currently finishing my Human Services degree and then I intend on going to nursing school to fulfill my dreams! Growing up I saw my grandma be a caregiver, and I enjoyed going with her to sit with these people and talk, play card games, or do activities. That sparked my interest but what has kept me in care giving is the connections I have made with the individuals and their families! I believe this is very rewarding.
I pride myself on really learning to care for my clients. I choose to feel that if it was my grandfather or grandmother I would want them treated with the utmost respect and divinity they deserve. Our elderly worked hard their whole lives now they need our help to continue to live a full, happy and healthy life .
Helping others in a patient and gentle manner gives me satisfaction. Listening to a client's wants and needs helps me to provide better care. My sense of humor and outgoing personality make the environment upbeat. Keeping optimistic and positive help my clients develop good relationships.
