I currently work as an Assisted Living Coordinator and Care Team Member in an assisted living in the city of Sun Lakes. I have over 20 plus years of experience in the healthcare industry providing care for individuals with disabilities and caring for those in the elderly community living with dementia and alzheimers. I pride myself in providing personal quality care that is tailored to each individual to meet their specific care needs ranging from recovery & rehabilitation to end of life hospice care and support. It's been over 4 years now when my 92 year mom fell & broke her hip. I then moved in with her and took care of her with help from my sisters. Taking her to doctor appointments and then we found out she has dementia. Mom is doing wonderful now. She has 2 other health care with her & I am scheduled for Friday nights until Monday morning. I do all the necessary work to make her comfortable and happy. I take her on trips to see my brother in Colorado 2 times a year. She loves to go anywhere & shop for groceries. I enjoy my moms company and realized that I want to help other seniors be happy.

What makes me a great caregiver is I have a heart of gold which makes it easy for me to care. I also have a good rapport with people. I live my life by the Golden Rule and it makes feel good to help those in need. I never had being a caregiver in mind but there came a time that I was in need of employment and caregiving became a joy to me. I then had to be a caregiver to my parents both suffered strokes. My dad had Alzheimer's disease and my mom had heart disease and diabetes. During this time my husband had a stroke then cancer. I enjoy being a caregiver because it gives me joy to see how happy my clients become when you are there for them.

Ever since I was little I always knew I wanted to work in the medical field so that I could help others. My dream is in the process of becoming a reality as I am currently in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program in Goodyear, AZ. My passion for ameliorating people's lives through movement and lifestyle modification has led me to where I am today. As a future PT, I am so grateful to have chosen a career path that allows quality time with patients and offers a more well rounded approach to health. I am proud of myself to have made it this far, and can't wait to graduate in May 2020 as a licensed PT. My past work experiences include working at a skilled nursing facility as an intern, and working in a retirement home as a fitness technician. Working at a SNF allowed me to interact with a variety of geriatric patients, including many comorbidities, in order to maintain quality of life and optimize their mobility. Since I am a student with a fluctuating schedule, I thought a perfect way to practice my developed skills and help pay for school was to become a caregiver. :)
