Hello, I am a 20 year old full time student, with a part time certified nursing assistant position at mercy medical center. Im looking for an extra job with low hours. I have been a CNA since 2017, and love helping people as much as i can. I believe that sometime all that people need is company and a some help. I have been a CNA since 2003. I worked in Dietary for a convalescent home. During my time working in dietary, I saw that our residents needed lots of support and I wanted to make a difference. I have experience as a in home care provider for a bedridden patient. I provided wound care, nourishment by G tube, required medications, and daily ADLS. I have been primary care giver for my grandfather providing daily ADLs, medicine intake, and meals. When my mother became ill, I served as her primary care taker as well. She was bedridden, so I was responsible for providing her daily meds, wound care, managed her nourishment by TPN, and provided hourly body rotations to prevent bed sores. I learned how to do wound care, how to manage KCI wound vac, and I'm familiar with mechanical lifts and sliding boards for transferring. A personal achievement I am proud of is that hospital staff would compliment me on the care I was providing my mother. They were impressed that even though she was bedridden for over a year, she never got a bed sore. I love helping our patients and building relationships with them. At times I've been told not build relationship so it doesn't get personal, but I find that the more comfortable they feel with me, the more receptive they are to my support and I can provide better care. I'm a very caring and patient person, and I want to continue helping those in need.

I like being a caregiver because I like helping people. I chose to become a caregiver because it is a step closer to where I want to be in the medical field. Nursing is my calling and helping people is where I need to be in life.

As a CNA with over six years experience working in home health I possess a caring and compassionate heart toward all people, but especially when it comes to matters of the elderly. I am outgoing, soft spoken and extremely patient which gives me the ability to connect with the elderly and not only gain their trust but build loving relationships with these folks. I feel like I am a great caregiver because I have such a big heart. I want to make people smile and laugh even when they aren't feeling the best or up to it. What attracted me to being a caregiver was knowing that I could be someone that counted on. Being a caregiver is not the easiest job in the world. You come across mini different scenarios that you may or may not know how to react to. You have to tell yourself you have to do what's best for the resident. You have to be somebody that is able to give them support through it all. Being a caregiver also has great benefits to knowing that you can go home and think I made that person's day. Or even such as I was the last person they talked to before they said goodbye. I was the last person that they wanted holding their hand as they passed. Bing caregiver is more than just a nurse. Being a caregiver is a completely different lifestyle.
