I became a caregiver in August 2009 for my father, Brian. After a series of tests my father was diagnosed with early - stage of cancer. I have always taken care of my father because my mother was never around to provide support to the family. His condition is still in the early stages, but I am worried about the future. This situation brought my father and I closer. His condition has made me realize that this is career move that I wanted to peruse. I am not a caregiver by career but by choice. I am a caregiver that truly cares about helping others and want to make a difference in the lives of seniors and their families. I'm very open to doing new things, I love to help others and having fun. A few things that attached me to becoming a caregiver was this amazing lady I used to care for back when I was still in highschool, it wasn't a job I wasn't getting paid for it but I loved caring for her and making sure she felt safe, after that bond and experience, I wanted to continue with this line of work.
