I am empathetic, compassionate, nurturing, attentive, dependable, committed, organized, happy, patient, honest, industrious, quiet, energetic, conscientious, clean and kind. As a child, I was always in the company of older folks in my community - so much so, that when I was 17 years old I took care of a 76 years old family friend on the weekends for 3 months while still in high school. I was always running to assist them when the need arises. The elderly comes first for me all the times. I was a volunteer at my church's Assisted Living Facility for 5 years, helping the residents with grooming, dressing, feeding, exercises and just general companionship - chatting and making them happy and joyful. I just have this natural passion and respect for them and humanity in general. I enjoy the satisfaction that engulfs me when I perform a task that they might feel a little embarrassed about but, because of the manner in which it was done, (privacy, respect) they just looked at me and say thank you so much, Joan or just smile confirming satisfaction. I also feel ecstatic and encouraged when family members and friends use words like - "Joan, you are the best" "you are a God-send", "you are special", "Joan, I could never do what you do". and you do your work with such professionalism. I am very proud that, through hard work and commitment to serve , I have gained the trust and respect of all seniors I have met and cared for.

I am a great caregiver because, I am compassionate, trustworthy, dependable, i am a great listener, i am a people person, and i respect their religion and their political status. I become a caregiver back in 1985, i know that caring is my passion so i went ahead and got certified as a CNA, HHA, & PCA. I become a caregiver simply because i offer love, undivided attention and great companionship. What i like mostly about being a caregiver is definitely the opportunity to express my passion directly to my clients. i get first hand to help them look and feel better about themselves, because i am also a licensed Esthetician and nail technician, so i give them manicures and pedicures, partial foot massage (if they are not diabetic) i give a relaxing facial too. I apply makeup and shampoo and roller set hair if they so desire. I have a few personal achievement that i am proud of, but the one that stands out to me, is the day i got my Certificate in the mail and got hired in an Assisted Living Facility. Over all i have great experience and superb references. Looking forward to working with you or your love one.
Caregiving isn't a job, it's someone's calling, you can't be a caregiver unless you love to take care of people, and that's why I became a caregiver. Giving the family the comfort of knowing their loved ones are safe in my hands is the most full filling job around. Seeing a person's face light up when they know someone who truly loves their job is taking care of them, is the reason I continue down this path of work.

I became a caregiver because I live geriatric, I grew up with my grandparents who both passed away it gives me joy and satisfaction to give back and put a smile on every grandparent I come in contact with it's a promise kept to my grandmother to always take care of her when she gets to the stage where she couldn't and today I treat all my clients as though I'm still caring for my own grandparents.
