What makes me a great care giver, is that I take the time to be in tune with what is happening around me and others. Each day I make sure that whomever is in my care is treated kindly, patiently, and lovely. Life is short, we are here today and gone tomorrow. We are all going to get old or sick one day. Life offers no guarantee to anyone. The only thing we can hope for is that we find someone who has your interest and always put your needs first.
I became a caregiver because I grew up with my great grandmother as a child and cared for her as she declined thus made me realized how helpless and fragile the elderly can become. My interest in caregiving started at an early age. Every sunday after church I would visit the sick and shut in members and others who requested prayers. I then attended a Medical Specialty High School and was involved in volunteering at local Adult Day Cares. When I was about 15 years of age my grandmother started developing Dementia and shortly after had a stroke. I became her main caregiver; cooking, cleaning, reading to her when not in school. I love the fact that I get to make a difference in someones day to day life. I tried many different ventures and always ends back into caregiving. This is what I'm meant to do and I'm good at it and enjoy doing it.
