My name is Courtney Brown. I have been working in the home healthcare field for 12 years. I am cpr, bls, mandt, fire safety, AAA driver safety, and proxy certified. I have always had the heart and passion to help others especially elders who can't do things on their own. I have worked with many different individuals with different disabilities and needs. I worked in IDD group homes where I had to cook, clean, give meds, provide transportation and help with everyday living assistance. Being able to go home knowing that I was able to help protect and keep others safe is something I am always proud of.

I have a passion for caregiving. Your family is my family. I started caregiving back in 2013 when my grandmother became terminally I'll from bone cancer. At the young age of 19 I had to quit my job at Walmart to care for her along side the help of the hospice nurse. When she passed all the things I learned stuck with me. At that point I knew then it was something I was meant to do, to help other families that may be going thru the same. I've very loving, compassionate and understanding of any and all situations. I've always loved taking care of people since I was 14 years old when I started helping with my dad who suffers from M.S and is completely deaf. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is that I enjoy helping people. I enjoy sitting and listening to people who enjoy sharing their stories with me when they were younger, or just talking about life in general. As a child I always knew that helping people was what God created me to do and I believe that everyday as I go about my day I see that this my true calling, and I believe that this is what I am suppose to do. I interact with patients all the time when they come into their appointments and there is never a dull moment. They share, and I listen because some have no one to talk to and I believe that me being that person that can talk to not only help them but also helps me to become a great listener and they thank me for that. I became a caregiver because I love peoples and I like taking care of people. I like listening to clients helping them with there bathing reading to them taking them on walks if they are wheelchair bound just being there for them. One personal Achievement that I have acquired is I was able to fulfilled a wish for my son grandmother she had terminal cancer and did not want to be in a nursing home and I moved out of my home and took care of her until she passed. I am a young woman who loves working and loves taking care of others. I have a kind, giving and calming spirit about me that makes me special. I take pride in my work and treat each patient/resident, encounter with nothing but love and the upmost respect. My mom has been a nurse my whole life and watching her growing up as a child pushed me to want to follow in her footsteps. As I got older I began to become fascinated with tracheostomy's and the indications and contraindications and I took the proper steps to achieve that goal at 18 and now I am 21 with only a year left and I will have my bachelor's!
