I was a Librarian back in the Philippines but when I came to the US in 2006, my friend encouraged me to try working with the elderly as a caregiver. Since then, I have been working as a caregiver and I developed the love and passion in taking care of the elderly. I had experienced.taking care.of elderly with different health issues such as Alzheimers, Dementia, diabetis, heart diseases (ie. CHF), Lung or respiratory disease, Stroke, non-ambulatory, bed bound elderly, etc. I assist them with their activities of daily living, prepare meals, laundry, do light housekeeping, medication reminder, assist with their errands and there were some elderly who asked me to organize their bills, do grocery and run other errands for them. I was not only a caregiver.but also a personal assistant. I am proud of being a caregiver because I know I make a difference in the lives of the elderly and I become part of the last journey of their lives. My nationality is Filipino, married, with 4 grown up children and 12 grandchildren who live in the Philippines.

I became a caregiver to help others, it's always given me pleasure knowing I was able to make someone else's life a little better. I like being a caregiver because it allows me to give back what has been in me. The thing I'm mostly proud of is how much I've accomplished throughout my life. I'm 37 years of age and I've been a CNA for about 13 years now. I'm a very family-oriented, compassionate person who cares about the level of care I provide to others. Summer Update [?]: I am free and available for the entire summer until day after Labor Day, in which afterwards, I go back to my schedule below. After Labor Day Availability: I am available late evenings, overnight til 4am w/sleep, & some weekends can be negotiated. What makes me a great caregiver is my patience and ability to take the lead to discern when a situation needs action or not. I have had many clients whose demands were very different but I adjusted right away bc I do understand the need for each person to have dignity and still feel as though they have a level of independence. I have serviced those as young as 38 with terminal cancer to those who were a mature age of 88 with heart, mobility, and respiratory issues, dementia, Alzheimer's, and bed-ritten, so I am well-rounded. I am a mother of 2 boys now young men and I am married but I have still devoted countless hours for my clients, even living in with them 24/7 and working 12 to 24 hour days, 7 days a week. I do not mind at all. I am gracious and love people too much. I will be a promising catch.
I knew from a young age that I always wanted to help people so with that in mind after high School I pursued what I knew I would be good at helping senior citizens through the years I have learned a lot and also through experience with working with agencies where most of the time they just throw you in and expect you to learn everything which was fine with me 18 years of experience later and I've had no complaints.

I also very patient and accomadating to clients' needs and families requests. I am able to function effectively under stressful conditions yet preserving to accomplish my goals. I am very loyal to my patients and my employers.
What makes me a great caregiver is the fact that I have a big heart. I am willing to help others and care for them. Not only am I doing my job, but I create a bond with my clients, it is more than just a job. Being there to comfort them and hands-on when needed. What attracted me to being a caregiver is growing up I watched my grandfather need the help. I enjoyed being there for him to the point where he felt comfortable enough to be in the state he was in. The most exciting part of being a caregiver is creating that bond with my clients to the point where they want me to come back. It is not always about being there for just the job and them needing help , I like being open to them and more like a friend then an employee. I am proud of helping others. I know that with my ability to be there for others good things will come upon me.
