The reason I become a caregiver because I enjoy taking care of the elderly, sick, and handicapped. After her death I received a note from the daughter describing how she had been touched by my action. My current job involves caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes. I'm a patient and compassionate person, I love to be around elderly. They are very smart and full of wisdom. I feel like I'm the lucky one to be with them and help them through this step of life. Even when they rejected me, I never took it personal and tried to understand them. I have been taking care of my mother in law for 6 years and I'm happy and proud to say that caregiving is a big personal accomplishment, and I'm proud of my resourcefulness, flexibility and determination.

From my personal experience as a Caregiver I always feel a desire to help by showing empathy and compassion to make sure my client know how much I care for them. I became a caregiver because I enjoy working with people/elderly whereby I've one on one interaction with them & at most doing the work that has a potential to make a difference in someone's life.
