I became a caregiver for many reasons 1 from coming from a famity full of nurses and 2 I love helping people and being there for people and giving the best care To them. I work with clients with Dementia and Alzheimers and others who just need help with their daily living and activities. I have worked in the healthcare field for 20 plus years. I started out in a skilled facility, not knowing what I was in for, never had cared for anything more then my husband and child. The first few weeks were hard, many times I thought about not going back , but, then I got to know the residents and it wasn't long before I was anxious to go to work and see them. I know this is what I was meant to do in life, it gives me great joy to be able to give elderly back a little of what has been taken from them due to age. I used to work with children as a teacher assistant & then I got certified with my CNA in Nebraska. Now I am planning to move to Kansas City MO here as soon as I can. I plan on being a caregiver as long as I can as well.

I became a CNA so my mother would be able to spend her last days at home. When i first started that was my only goal. I never imagined i would fall in love with the job. It has been an enriching & fulfilling experience everyday since. What started out as a favor to my mom has turned into so much more & i thank her everyday.
