I became a caregiver after watching my mother suffer with health problems for many years. I spent a lot of time with her in the hospital before she passed away, and after living with her sickness, I decided that I wanted to be a healthcare provider. I feel , no I know this is my calling. I have cared for many people, and made a difference in their life for the better and I am very proud of this. I love helping and caring for people.I am a very trustworthy , and caring lady and would have your best interest at heart always.
To have a career that makes a difference in peoples lives. Meeting and interacting with individuals that you sometimes normally would not get the chance to. While working at a assisted living facility I performed CPR on an elderly woman who was choking during dinner. Afterwards she told me how thankful she was and her family wrote a letter stating how grateful they were. The company also expressed their gratitude for what I'd done. I am an understanding, kind, and fair person who does not mind helping people from different cultures and back rounds .That's just how I was raised.
Iam compassionate. I make my patients smile each day I give them care or company. I became a care giver because I feel that when I help uplift someone in one way or another, God's love is shown. I started out in a privately owned Assisted Living in 2003, not needing my LNA. During my first year there, I fell in love with taking care of others. I went back to school and got my LNA license in 2004 (NH requires you to be licensed). I enjoy serving our seniors by helping them lead full and productive lives each day. Their needs are always put before mine, I like to focus on quality of life. My personal achievement would have to be moving to another state and challenging my skills to take the test and get my CNA here in NC in 2010. I also took the state test to become a medication tech in 2016. I feel that I can adapt easily to any environment and can work very well with others. It is said, that I have an out going personality and am courteous to everyone. I am 41 yrs old, met my husband when I was 19. We had a son, who is now 21, got married in 1999 and had our daughter, who is now 18. We are from NH. Moved to NC a little over 8 yrs ago and love it here. The activities of daily living I can perform includes.. Hygiene/bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting assistance/incontinence, mobility assistance, transfer assistance, feeding assistance, transportation, managing medication, light housekeeping/laundry, exercises, groceries/shopping, companionship and more!
I have a religious background and making a difference in other people's lives is a virtue to live for . I have worked in a memory care eg Falls river court , UNC Chapel hill post surgery unit , Wakemed behavior health and central prison as a healthcare technician and as a medication technician. I have seen people who have recovered from major surgeries going home from hospitals and it has given me satisfaction that I participated in their care. I am empathetic by nature and driven mostly to see the results than just money.
I love people, i love meeting others and learning what may help me throughout daily life. I'm a great caregiver because I have empathy toward people with health issues and this is part of my calling - to assist people to engage their lives as full as possible. What attracts me to care giving is the unconditional appreciation I have received over the years. What I enjoy most about being a care giver would be reciprocity from clients to live and not take for granted the little things. My personal achievement has been making life long friends and some have been considered family.
