Every person is special and everyday can present a new challenge and I am constantly learning from my clients. One woman in particular that I cared for was 65 yrs old. She was deaf & mute and taught me ASL sign language. So taking care of an individual is part of the job, but 'Caring For Them' is a large part of My heart.
I have always liked people and helped others. I been a caregiver on and off for over 30 years. I have taken care of many people like they were my own family. My patients needs and wants will always come first. I may someday need care and i will give my patients the respect and care that I want for myself if needed someday. For the last three years I have been with a wonderful lady who pass on her 102 birthday and her daughter who will be moving to an independent living on Oct 1. I did not plan on becoming a caregiver, it was an opportunity presented to me and I decided to take it even though it scared me. I love people, therefore, the idea of helping someone comes naturally. I was surprised by the fact that I came to enjoy caregiving. I enjoy the deep relationships I form with the people I help, and I find a great deal of satisfaction in knowing that I can make a difference in someones day by showing them kindness and learning what special something adds quality to their life. I am proud of the confidence I have developed in my ability to help other people. As I mentioned before, I love people and even when I'm not working, I spend my time trying to help others by volunteering my time teaching people the benefits of learning about the Bible. I am a religious person, and my faith has helped me to be a well grounded, trustworthy person with a life full of purpose. Because of the aforementioned volunteer work that I do I am only looking for part time work.
